the Peace Makers For They Shall Know God.
With Every Breath
every breath I take today,
I vow to be awake;
And every step I take,
I vow to take with a grateful heart--
So I may see with eyes of love
into the hearts of all I meet,
To ease their burden when I can
Why give honor and appreciation to those who have come before?
Here are my thoughts.
We live in a world that is so focused on MY accomplishments,MY small and narrow perceptions that we become unaware and ungrateful
of the multitude of spirits that have empowered us on our journey. We forget and in some cases never become conscious that
we are an interconnected whole. We lock ourselves into a narrow view of the world in which we give up a part of ourselves
that is the Source of who we are as our 'true' selves. We throw away our history, getting lost in the illusion of believing
that we really have did it all ourselves. And in the dark empty spaces of our lonliness, we wonder at what was it that all
went wrong. So what ALL this WORK is about is helping us all to CONNECT with what is real, what is enduring. SO, here we focus
on Respect, Value and Honor for Elders, Interconnection of Land, Family, History. We focus on the POWER AND HEALING of Presence,
Listening, Symbol and Ceremony, of Nurture and Caring, centered with the VISION there is another way other than the alienation
that is the result of cold and hard logic, of isolating individualism, of materialistic accumulation of power and right. A
more creative way can be found in the safe and healing way of dialogue, of people just coming together as family to share
the deep spaces of the heart. And that dear ones is a radical act of peacemaking.

We look forward
to the time when the Power of Love will replace the Love of Power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace. ~William
If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other. Mother Teresa
cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding. Ralph Waldo Emerson
want peace, nations should avoid the pin-pricks that precede cannon shots. Napoleon Bonaparte

I take it that what all men are really
after is some form of, perhaps only some formula of peace. James Conrad
The real differences around the world
today are not between Jews and Arabs; Protestants and Catholics; Muslims, Croats, and Serbs. The real differences are between
those who embrace peace and those who would destroy it; between those who look to the future and those who cling to the past;
between those who open their arms and those who are determined to clench their fists. William J. Clinton, 1997
pacifist's task today is to find a method of helping and healing which provides a revolutionary constructive substitute for
war. Vera Brittain, 1964

Than battle ever knew.
John Greenleaf Whittier
great enemies to peace inhabit with us: avarice, ambition, envy, anger, and pride. If those enemies were to be banished,
we should infallibly enjoy perpetual peace. Francesco Petrarch
Yes, we love peace, but we are not willing to take
wounds for it, as we are for war. John Andrew Holmes, Wisdom in Small Doses
An eye for eye only ends up making
the whole world blind. Mahatma Gandhi
There is one armor that the world of men and women, as a world, has never
yet put on. The churches have long bungled with its fastenings, but the world has gone unfended, and few have been those
in whose hands the mystical sword of the spirit has shone with daily use. This armor, waiting to be worn, is the armor of
brotherhood and sacrifice, the world of unselfishness, a conquering sword, with the power, where used, to unite the world
in love. And there are none who may not put it on. M.A. DeWolfe Howe
I think that people want peace so much that
one of these days government had better get out of their way and let them have it. Dwight Eisenhower
war's trumpet cease;
Fold the whole earth in peace.
~Oliver Wendell Holmes
We have all taken risks in the
making of war. Isn't it time that we should take risks to secure peace? J. Ramsay MacDonald
We seek peace, knowing
that peace is the climate of freedom. Dwight D. Eisenhower
Peace is more precious than Right. Woodrow Wilson
we should develop a Crayola bomb as our next secret weapon. A happiness weapon. A beauty bomb. And every time a crisis
developed, we would launch one. It would explode high in the air - explode softly - and send thousands, millions, of little
parachutes into the air. Floating down to earth - boxes of Crayolas. And we wouldn't go cheap, either - not little boxes
of eight. Boxes of sixty-four, with the sharpener built right in. With silver and gold and copper, magenta and peach and
lime, amber and umber and all the rest. And people would smile and get a little funny look on their faces and cover the world
with imagination. Robert Fulghum
In the name of peace
They waged the wars
Ain't they got no shame
Let us love the world to peace. Quoted in The Angels' Little Instruction Book by Eileen Elias Freeman,
A warless world will come as men develop warless hearts. Charles Wesley Burns
We shall never be
able to effect physical disarmament until we have succeeded in effecting moral disarmament. J. Ramsay MacDonald

Let Peace fill our Heart
The Universal Peace Covenant
Peace is the breath of our spirit.
It wells up from within the depths of our being to refresh,
to heal, to inspire.
Peace is our birthright.
Its eternal presence
exists within us as a memory of where we have come from and as a vision of where we yearn to go.
Our world is in the midst of change.
For millennia, we have contemplated, reasoned, and practiced
the idea of peace. Yet the capacity to sustain peace eludes us. To transcend the limits of our own thinking we must acknowledge
that peace is more than the cessation of conflict. For peace to move across the face of the earth we must realize, as the
great philosophers and leaders before us, that all people desire peace. We hereby acknowledge this truth that is universal.
Now humanity must desire those things that make for peace.
affirm that peace is an idea whose time has come.
We call upon humanity to stand united, responding to the need
for peace. We call upon each individual to create and foster a personal vision for peace. We call upon each family to generate
and nurture peace within the home. We call upon each nation to encourage and support peace among its citizens. We call upon
each leader, be they in the private home, house of worship or place of labor, to be a living example of peace for only in
this way can we expect peace to move across the face of the earth.
Peace begins within ourselves.
Arising from the spirit peace seeks expression through the mind, heart, and body
of each individual. Government and laws cannot heal the heart. We must transcend whatever separates us. Through giving love
and respect, dignity and comfort, we come to know peace. We learn to love our neighbors as we love ourselves bringing peace
into the world. We hereby commit ourselves to this noble endeavor.
is first a state of mind.
Peace affords the greatest opportunity for growth and learning which leads to personal
happiness. Self-direction promotes inner peace and therefore leads to outer peace. We vow to heal ourselves through forgiveness,
gratitude, and prayer. We commit to causing each and every day to be a fulfillment of our potential, both human and divine.
Peace is active, the motion of silence, of faith, of accord, of service.
It is not made in
documents but in the minds and hearts of men and women. Peace is built through communication. The open exchange of ideas is
necessary for discovery, for well-being, for growth, for progress whether within one person or among many. We vow to speak
with sagacity, listen with equanimity, both free of prejudice, thus we will come to know that peace is liberty in tranquility.
Peace is achieved by those who fulfill their part of a greater plan.
Peace and security are
attained by those societies where the individuals work closely to serve the common good of the whole. Peaceful coexistence
between nations is the reflection of man's inner tranquility magnified. Enlightened service to our fellowman brings peace
to the one serving, and to the one receiving. We vow to live in peace by embracing truths that apply to us all.
Living peaceably begins by thinking peacefully.
We stand on the threshold of peace-filled understanding.
We come together, all of humanity, young and old of all cultures from all nations. We vow to stand together as citizens of
the Earth knowing that every question has an answer, every issue a resolution. As we stand, united in common purpose, we hereby
commit ourselves in thought and action so we might know the power of peace in our lifetimes.
be with us all ways. May Peace Prevail On Earth.
